July 26: Vietnam Shares Gains First Time in 5 Days, Liquidity Drains
Vietnamese shares edged up today as traders bottom fishers picked up shares after 4 falling days, liquidity stayed low on caution.
The benchmark VN Index gained 1.89 points or 0.46 percent to 414.8. Volume fell 29.3 percent to 30.8 million shares worth of VND415.7 billion. Put through trading contributed 1 million shares worth of VND15.36 billion.
The market breadth was positive on the primary bourse where 1054stocks advanced, 75 declined, 115 closed unchanged.
The VN30 gained 2.41 points or 0.49 percent, to 490.78. Amongst its 30 members, 19 gained, 3 lost and 8 unchanged.
The market opened in the green with 1.4 million shares changed hands as, caution remained but buyers were more willing to take higher risks, betting higher prices. However, buying interest was not very high and just kept the market green.
Industrial zone developer Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA), the most active stock on a trade of 3.2 million shares, rose 1.47 percent to end at VND6,900.
Ocean Group (OGC), the second most traded issue on the gauge with 1.2 million units, leaped 4.13 percent to settle at VND12,600.
SACOM Development and Investment Corporation (SAM) jumped 3.7 percent to finish at VND8,400 on a trade of 1.1 million shares – the third most active.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX gained 0.41 point or 0.59 percent to 70.09. Trading volume rose 5.75 percent to 39.6 million shares worth VND360.7 billion.
The market breadth was negative where 154 rallied, 70 declined, 230 closed unmoved.
HNX30 gained 1.34 points or 1.01 percent to 133.42.
VNDirect Securities (VND), the most active on the measure with 4 million shares changed hands, rose 3.81 percent to end at VND10,900.
PetroVietnam Construction (PVX), coming second in liquidity on a trade of 3.3 million units, climbed 1.18 percent to settle at VND8,600 per share.
Kim Long Securities (KLS) looked up 2 percent to finish at VND10,200 on a trade of 2.8 million shares – the third most active.
