July 6: Vietnam Stocks Close Mixed, Caution Remains

Vietnamese stocks ended the week in a mixed note as investors were mostly still in the wait-and-see mood.

The benchmark VN Index added 1.61 points or 0.39 percent to 415.44. Volume rose by 37 percent to 43.3 million shares worth of VND629.4 billion. Put through trading contributed 7.6 million shares worth of VND205.1 billion.

The market breadth was positive on the primary bourse where 193 stocks advanced, 69 declined, 46 closed unchanged.

The VN30 rose 1.82 points or 0.37 percent, to 490.64. Amongst its 30 members, 18 stock rallied, 6 lost and 6 unchanged.

The market opened in the green with 1.8 million shares changed hands. The trading pace was a bit faster as buyers became more aggressive. There were some selling into the strength but not heavily, and market in general kept going up.

Duc Long Gia Lai Group JSC. (DLG) was the most active stock on the bourse today with 3.7 million shares changed hands, closing up 2.9 percent to VND7,200.

Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) came second in volume with 2.6 million shares traded, closing up 1.5 percent to VND6,700.

Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) ranked third with 1.9 million shares traded, closing down 1.5 percent to VND12, 800.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX bucked trend to close down, losing 0.14 point or 0.2 percent to 69.67. Trading volume fell 10.9 percent to 35.1 million shares worth VND293.2 billion.

The market breadth was positive where 132 rallied, 94 declined, 72closed unmoved and the rest unchanged.

VNDirect Securities (VND), the most active on the measure with 3.6 million shares changed hands, closing down 1 percent to end at VND9,900.

Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate JSC (SCR) coming second in volume on a trade of 3.2 million units, surged 6.7 percent to settle at VND9,500 per share.

Hanoi-based lender Habubank (HBB) was in the third place with 2.7 million shares traded, closing down 2.1 percent to VND4,600.
