June 5: VN Index gains ground

The VN Index closed at 1,022.74 points on HSX, up 8.96 points (0.88 per cent), while the VN30-Index finished at 981.88 points, up 12.73 points (1.31 per cent).

On HNX, the HNX-Index ended the day at 118.18 points, down 0.14 points (0.11 per cent), the HNX30-Index 215.08 points, up 0.57 points (0.27 per cent), and the UPCoM-Index 53.60 points, down 0.03 points (0.05 per cent).

Liquidity on HSX was VND7.7 trillion ($337.5 million) and VND959.9 billion ($42 million) on HNX.

Most large food and beverage stocks gained ground, with SAB, VNM and BHN increasing 2.5, 2 and 0.1 per cent, respectively. TAC lost 4.1 per cent, KDC 0.3 per cent, and TLG 0.2 per cent as VCF and BBC closed at their opening price.

In banking, EIB gained 3.7 per cent, STB 2.8 per cent, CTG 1.6 per cent, MSN 1.4 per cent, VPB 0.4 per cent, SSI 0.3 per cent and VCI 0.2 per cent. TCB lost 6.2 per cent, VCB 1.2 per cent, and TPB and BID 0.3 per cent, as BVH and MBB closed at their opening price.

Gainers in energy included PVD and GAS, both by 6.9 per cent, PLX 4.5 per cent, PVT 3.7 per cent, NT2 1.2 per cent and PPC 0.3 per cent as PGD lost 1.2 per cent.

The Top 5 shares bought by foreign investors were VCB, VHC, CTD, BVH and HCM.

VHM was the largest net share sold on HSX, followed by DHG, GAS, PPC and VIC.

VGC was the largest net share sold on HNX, followed by PVS, CEO, TNG and DBC.

On UPCoM, foreign investors bought 286,886 shares worth VND730.48 million ($32,000).

They net sold on HSX by VND36.69 billion ($1.6 million) and on HNX by VND25.65 billion ($1.1 million).
