Korean steel firm mulls Thach Khe iron ore deposit

As a source of Vietnam Steel Corp (VSC), South Korea’s Sun Steel Co has expressed interest in mining iron ore at the Thach Khe deposit of the central province of Ha Tinh.

If the plan goes ahead, the company said it would invest US$80 million to produce steel materials and billet for production in Vietnam.

Sun Steel said it would survey the deposit and assay the iron ore which is estimated to have a reserve of 540 million tonnes.
