Malaysia condemns Israel’s action
Malaysia yesterday strongly condemned Israel’s action which scuttled a proposed meeting of envoys from the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Ramallah over two days from Sunday.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Israel had no valid reason to bar some of the foreign ministers and their delegations from Ramallah as it was located in Palestine and not in Israel.
Israel refused to admit four attendees from states with which it has no diplomatic relations.
“The government of Malaysia strongly condemns Israel’s action which violates international principles of law and Israel’s obligation as the power occupying Palestine,” said the statement.
The action taken by Israel again showed to NAM and the international community the sufferings of the Palestinians in their struggles to achieve full independence with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Malaysian government was convinced that Israel’s action would only strengthen NAM’s resolve to continue to champion for the integrity and rights of the Palestinians to achieve the status of an independent nation and Malaysia would continue to give its solid support to the government and people of Palestine.
Meanwhile in Jakarta, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said Indonesia too condemned Israel for blocking the meeting of the NAM envoys on Palestine.
