Malaysian group demands recall of Singapore diplomats
Some 300 members of a Malay supremacy group gathered at the Singapore High Commission here to demand the recall of three diplomats accused of ‘interfering’ in Malaysia’s political affairs by attending an electoral reforms rally on April 28.
The pro-government Perkasa also wants the High Commission to formally apologise for the trio’s allegedly ‘active participation’ in the protest, which the authorities had declared illegal.
‘We feel their involvement for any excuse whatsoever violates the Vienna Convention where every country must mutually respect each other,’ said Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali, the fiery independent MP for Pasir Mas on Monday.
‘Their participation has given the perception that Singapore has tried to interfere in Malaysia’s political affairs.’
