Man on trial for trafficking woman
Criminal investigation police of Ha Tay province said that with the help of the public they found out and broke a women trafficking ring from two communes of Ba Vi and Khanh Thuong to China since April 2004 up to now.
The traffickers have brought five young girls from Ba Vi to China two of whom Dinh Thi Lan Thuong and Trieu Thi Mai were sent back to Vietnam by Chinese functional agencies. There is no trace of the other three. At the moment, the local police are coordinating with Chinese police in order to find and bring them back to Vietnam.
Girls declared that one man named Viet and some other men told them to go to other provinces like Bac Ninh and Lang Son to work for some restaurants with high payment. When the girls agreed, criminals conned them into border gate of Tan Thanh in Lang Son province and sold them to a Chinese at a price of two to three million dong each.
On December 16, the case was on trial. Viet was arrested by the local police on December 20 when he appeared in Tan Linh of Ba Vi. Viet declared that his real name is Vu Huy Thong born in 1977 and was sentenced to 15 months in prison for illegal striking and arresting people. Thong confessed he and three other men in Son Tay town coordinated with each other to sell five girls from Ba Vi to China. The police are investigating to find more of the women trafficking gang.
