Nearly 900b dong to develop electricity grid in Mekong Delta

Electricity grid network development project for nearly 9,000 households, mostly Khmer people in the southern province of Kien Giang is under the electricity network development scheme in 2012 of Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN)’s Southern Power Co (EVN SPC) in four provinces of Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh and Kien Giang with total investment of nearly 900 billion dong, to provide electricity to nearly 55,000 households.

The project is expected to start in early July.

According to Nguyen Binh Trung, vice head of EVN SPC’s planning department, all electricity grid development projects in four provinces in Mekong Delta will start and complete within 2012.

EVN SPC said that in 2012, the company will invest about 2.9 trillion dong to upgrade the transmission, distribution station, medium-voltage wires and operate power grid projects to provide total 35 billion kWh electricity for 21 southern provinces within this year.
