Seafood exports increase strongly in July

Vietnam's total export turnover of seafood during the first seven months of the year reached about US$2.4 billion, up 20% against last year, according to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (Vasep).

Of which, in July alone, the country exported over 130,000 tonnes of seafood, bringing in over US$475 million, rising nearly 77% in quantity and 40% in value from a year ago, marking the highest export growth rate during three past years.

Particularly, last month, frozen shrimp and ca tra and basa play a key role with US$172 million and US$155 million, respectively increasing 8.4% and 94% in comparison with last year.

At present, Russia is Vietnam's the fifth biggest buyer trailing only EU, Japan, the US and Korea with total export turnover in Jan-July of US$123 million, a year-on-year increase of 92.7%.
