Vietnam Food Association reported that the rice export in June reached 650,000 tonnes, bringing the total estimated figure of H1 to 3.6 million tonnes.
To gain the targeted export of 5 million tonnes in 2009, enterprises will have to purchase extra 700,000 tonnes of rice adding to the stockpiled volume.
Up to June 12, the country exported 3.28 million tonnes for $1.35 billion at the average export price of $412 per tonne.
