Pham Van Bay, vice chair of Vietnam Food Association (VFA) announced in 2010, Vietnam has signed large rice export contracts with total rice export volume of 2.38 million tonnes.

The rice export price in those signed contracts remained at high level, in which the lowest price for 25 percent broken rice of $480 per tonne and $664.9 per tonne at maximum.

As planned, Vietnam has to deliver about 1.47 million tonnes of rice in Q1/2010.

Philippines has lately announced that Vietnam has won the third phase bidding session in December 2009 with total rice volume of 586,554 tonnes at price of $664.9 per tonne, to be delivered at Philippines' seaport. The delivery period will be from March to June 2010.

Therefore, during December 2009, Vietnam had won the bidding sessions for exporting rice to the Philippines for three times with total export volume of over 1 million tonnes.

At present, Vietnamese enterprises are delivering 150,000 tonnes of rice to Filipino partners after winning the bidding session held in early December 2009.
