Governance invests 1.34tr dong for tra and basa catfish production

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has lately carried out the project of producing and trading tra catfish in Mekong Delta region up to 2020.

Accordingly, Vietnam planned to reach production output of 1.5 million tonnes in 2010; 1.8 million tonnes in 2015 and 2 million tonnes in 2020. The tra and basa raising area will be increased from 11,000 hectares to 13,000 hectares in 2020.

The ministry planned to provide financial support for construction on irrigation works, scientific research and environment protection.
The total investment capital for this project was posted at 1.34 trillion dong, in which the first phase costs 800 billion dong and 540 billion dong of the second phase.
