Construction projects on fishing port to be invested 8 trillion dong

Prime minister has approved general plan of fishing port network up to 2020, with orientation to 2030 in 28 coastal provinces and cities in Vietnam.

The main targets of the general plan were to complete the construction works on fishing ports in the coastal areas, providing logistic services for the fishing ships and developing fishery industry under industrialisation and modernisation methods.

According to the approved plan, up to 2020 Vietnam would have 211 fishing ports with total designed capacity of 2.36 million tonnes of sea products per year.

The total investment capital for fishing port projects from now up to 2020 was estimated at 8 trillion dong. The general project was divided into three phases. In the first phase of 2009-2012, the enterprises would use investment capital of 2.303 trillion dong to complete construction works on Level 1 fishing port and priority projects, and some in-progress level 2 fishing ports and shelters for storm.

In the period of 2013-2015, all the key fishing ports in all over the country will get investment capital of 3.926 trillion dong.

From 2016 to 2020, the capital of 1.771 trillion dong will be disbursed for the rest fishing ports.

The investment capital will be raised from different sources such as State Budget, domestic economic sectors, and foreign investment capital.
