The Vietnam Opportunity Fund, a US$850 million Alternative Investments Market-traded closed-end fund, is looking to raise an additional US$200 million via a secondary share placement. The new issue closes on November 14.

The fund invests across asset classes in the Vietnamese domestic economy. Typically, half of the fund's portfolio is invested in equities with the remainder divided between real estate and private equity. Through September, the fund has returned 32%.

The Vietnam Opportunity Fund is managed by VinaCapital Investment Management, which said it expects to launch new funds within the next 12 months to take advantage of further privatizations of state-owned corporations in the telecommunications, banking, and the energy sectors, real estate and property development and an increase in private equity deals.
