Canon Inc. (7751.TO) will move its domestic inkjet printer assembly operations to Thailand in 2010 as strength in the yen squeezes the company's profit margins, the Nikkei reported in its Monday morning edition.

The Japanese electronics maker's domestic operations will specialise on components and high value-added products, the paper said.

Canon currently assembles inkjet printers in Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. Its Japanese plant will discontinue printer assembly operations and instead boost its production capacity for core components such as print heads and ink tanks.
