Saigon Co.op expands business

The HCM City Union of Trading Cooperative (Saigon Co.op) plans to open 10-12 additional Co.op supermarkets all over the country in 2009.

Up to the end of June 2009, the Co.op system had 37 supermarkets in operation, out of which 20 supermarkets were located in HCM City and the rest 17 units were in operation in provinces of South Eastern, South Western and South Central Coast regions of Vietnam.

In July 2009, Saigon Co.op will officially open Co.opMart Thanh Ha in Ninh Thuan provice. It's expected that in Q3 of 2009, the retailing organisation will continue opening new supermarkets in provinces of Ha Tinh, Long An and HCM City.

In addition to developing Saigon Co.op's supermarket system, the organisation will expand the network of Co.op Food stalls in HCM City. In its plan, Co.opFood will open about 20 new stalls up to the end of this year.
