Beer growth rate expected to increase by 15pct per year

Sabeco Trading one-member Co Ltd, member company of Saigon Beer Alcohol Beverage Corp (Sabeco) has announced the Vietnamese beer market would reach total production output of 2.7 billion litres in 2010.

Beer consumption output would develop at growth rate of 15 percent in the coming years, together with the increase of people's average income and demands for high-quality products. Meanwhile, in 2010-2012, the special consumption tax would decrease to 45 percent from the current 75 percent, and the special consumption tax on draught beer would jump from 40 percent to 45 percent.

In 2009, Sabeco Trading Co reported to gain total production output of 907 million litres, up 6.7 percent against the plan and 16.7 percent compared to that of 2008, counting for 35 percent of the market share. In 2010, the company planned to sell 1 billion litres of beer.
