In the first eight months of 2010, Vietnam's cement consumption reached 32.5 million tonnes, fulfilling 65 percent of the year plan.

The statistics released by ministry of construction showed that the cement sales volume in August was estimated at 4.51 million tonnes, increasing by 800,000 tonnes against the previous month. The country's cement production output in July retained at stable level at 4.49 million tonnes, raising the accumulative cement productivity at 33.4 million tonnes, equalling to 66.7 percent of the 2010 year plan.

At present, the cement price was considered as stable. The sales price in southern region were 250,000-300,000 dong higher than that in the northern region because of the transportation charges.

In the rest four months of 2010, the whole country's cement production output was expected to reach 50.5 million tonnes, increasing by 11 percent against last year, of which Vietnam Cement Industry Corp was supposed to consume 18-18.5 million tonnes, joint ventures of 15-15.5 million tonnes, the local cement plants of 17-17.5 million tonnes.
