Vietnam attracts US$47b FDI capital in Jan-Aug

Over US$47 billion FDI capital was registered in the first eight months of this year, a 4.5 fold increase year-on-year, reported the Foreign Investment Department.
In which, the newly registered FDI capital reached US$46.3 billion worth of 772 projects and more than US$830 million of increased capital size of 210 old projects.
To date, the actualised FDI has attained US$8 billion, jumping 43% yoy.
Big FDI projects are in fields of oil refinery and steel manufacturing, so the FDI capital flow into the industry and construction field grew by 48.6%, lower than 50.8% of total FDI capital into services.
Import spending of FIEs was US$19.2 billion in the period, a yoy rise of 41.3% and their export turnover reached US$15.8 billion.
In Jan-August Taiwan becomes the biggest investor of Vietnam, followed by Japan while US dropped to the ninth position.
