HCM City Statistic Office has reported that in June, the industrial production value made by foreign invested companies touched 14,582 trillion dong, a month on month rise of 3.5 percent. Total figure of H1 was posted at 79.549 trillion dong, up 6.3 percent year-on-year.

However, the export turnover of FDI enterprises in Jan-June fell by 6.2 percent from 2008. Particularly, the value of electrical equipment production declined 52 percent compared with the same period of last year, notably Furukawa Co down 71.9 percent, Nissei Electric Co tumbling 49.5 percent and Nidec Copal Co falling 44.1 percent.

According to Thai Van Re, director of HCM City Department of Planning and Investment, FDI enterprises are focusing on developing distribution system in Vietnam and set up commercial wholesale agents to serve neighbouring countries so they need land to build distribution and warehouse system. Thus, the city has to work out the land using project and speed up the ground clearance for projects.
