Vietnam attracts $9.128b FDI capital in first seven months

The department of foreign investment, under ministry of planning and investment has reported that up to July 20, the country's disbursed foreign direct investment (FDI) capital has increased by $1 billion dong against the previous month to $6.4 billion. Therefore, the average FDI disbursement each month in 2010 was estimated at over $900 million.

According the department's reports, from the beginning of the year up to now, there were 137 FDI projects that registered to increase capital, 533 newly-registered projects, equal to 56.8 percent and 83.9 percent respectively over the same period of last year.

The total amount of FDI projects in the first seven months of 2010 reached 670 projects with total registered capital of $9.128 billion, or 68.2 percent year-on-year.

The department also released that the export turnover among foreign-invested firms in Jan-July achieved $20.674 billion, up 26.7 percent in comparison with the same period of last year. The export turnover from FDI sector was posted at $17.67 billion dong, exclusive crude oil, up 40.1 percent meanwhile the import deficit in the past seven months was $19.453 billion and $1.783 billion, excluding crude oil.
