The Honda-Vietnam company has announced a 2008 awards programME for gifted university students majoring in technology.

The “Honda Yes-2008” awards will give 10 talented students in their final two-years of study, or 2008 graduates, scholarships worth 10,000 US dollars each for post-graduate education in Japan.

Award recipients will also get a made-in-Vietnam Honda motorbike and be in the running to share 30,000 US dollars of total prize money.

The scholarships are open to four universities of technology in Hanoi, the central city of Da Nang and HCM City with the application process involving three rounds of competitions, a qualifying round, essay contest and interview rounds.

The programme is co-sponsored by the Honda Foundation, the National Institute for Scientific and Technological Policy and Strategy, and universities across the country.

Honda is working with the Service of Education and Training in the midland province of Vinh Phuc to set up a Honda scholarship fund worth over 200 million dong a year.
