Banks look to promos to woo new customers

After receiving the official signal on promotion from Vietnam Banks Association, commercial joint stock banks have raced to launch promotion programmes to attract customers and boost capital mobilisation.

The promotion programme "Gold Gift of VPBank" is regarded to be the biggest at the moment. Starting May 12 and ending August 9, total value of prises of the programme is nearly three trillion dong with the first prize worth about 1 billion dong, 30 second prises worth 40 million dong each.

Similarly, Techcombank also launched the super-lucky saving programme (that is naturally a prize based saving programme) whereby depositors can gain prises worth over 2.7 billion dong in total.

Vietinbank, changed name from Incombank most recently started the programme of "Sending bills of exchange to obtain Mercedes and Camry" for customers buying US dollar and dong bills with a term of 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9 months with the highest interest rate of 12% per annum for the dong and 6% pa for US dollar.
