US dollar price surges, gold price dips

The dong and US dollar forex rate yesterday at Vietcombank was listed at 16,163 dong/US dollar while the rate of informal market climbed to 16,500 dong/US dollar.

However, by the end of yesterday, one US dollar was exchanged to 16,380 dong only.

In addition, a reduction in crude oil prices made the global gold price continue falling by additional US$2 an ounce to US$865/ounce against the previous day.

The domestic price of gold yesterday was fairly stable, around 17.2 million dong an ounce, down 10,000 dong against May 14.

On the Saigon gold trading floor, the trading volume reached 234,100 ounces worth over four trillion dong with the order matching price of 17.145 million dong/ounce.
