Gold at over 26.8m dong/tael

The world's opening gold price on the second trading week of March stood at $1,135.30 per ounce, nearly unchanged compared with the closing price of previous week. Also, the domestic price also stood still.

Pieced fold Than Tai Sacombank (SBJ) was listed at 26.77 million dong/tael (buying) and 26.79 million dong/tael (selling), a slight rise of 20,000 dong/tael compared with last Friday.

On March 8, Rong Thang Long gold of Bao Tin Minh Chau was bought at 26.74 million dong and sold at 26.81 million dong/tael, surging nearly 100,000 dong/tael from March 5.

SJC gold of Saigon Jewellery Joint Stock Co in Hanoi was changed hands at 26.74-26.81 million dong/tael (buying-selling) as well today.

Globally, last weekend SPDR Gold Trust Fund continued purchasing in 0.61 tonnes of gold, bringing its net gold purchase between Marc 1 and 5 to about 10 tonnes. Now SPRD Gold Trust keeps 1,116.12 tonnes of gold.

* The interbank average forex rate on March 8 was announced at 18,544 dong per US dollar by State Bank of Vietnam (SBV). Selling price of US dollar at Vietcombank was kept at the ceiling price of 19,100 dong/US dollar, however this increased from 19,050 to 19,070 dong per US dollar. Forex rate of the commercial banks last week was raised from 18,800 to 19,050 dong/US dollar.

At Eximbank, the US dollar buying price stood at 19,080-19,090 dong/US dollar.
