State bank Agribank has been allowed to increase its chartered capital by 10.200 trillion dong to 21 trillion dong, according to the Ministry of Finance's Decision No 482/QD-BTC whereby Agribank becomes the biggest commercial bank in Vietnam.

With this capital supplementation, the bank can raise the capital adequacy ratio (CAR) of 8.5% in 2010 and focus on capital provision to agriculture and farmers.

Agribank is asking the approval of SBV, finance ministry and the government to continue hiking its charter capital by another 10 trillion dong (including four trillion dong proposed to come from State Budget).
