Local company sues province for restricting his business

A company owner in Long An Province filed a lawsuit at a local court seeking 11 billion dong (US$656,000) in compensation from the provincial People's Committee.

Nguyen Van Lien, chair of the Long An Construction and Machinery Joint Stock Company, claims the provincial People's Committee issued "unlawful" directives in relation to his business at the start of 2007.

The provincial People's Committee withdrew their directives last month, though Lien says he is seeking compensation for the loss of business caused by the actions of the committee.
