Democratic Party of Vietnam releases proclamation highlighting their principles and priorities as the Opposition Party

Dr Ngai Nguyen, the vice general Secretary of the Democratic Party of Vietnam (DPV), today released the following Proclamation which highlights the principles and priorities of the primary opposition to the communist party in Vietnam.

PROCLAMATION THE POLITICAL VIEW OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF VIETNAM (DPV)

The Democratic Party of Vietnam hereby solemnly acclaims:

1. Since its re-activation on the First of June 2006, the Democratic Party of Vietnam is a political party of the Vietnamese people, active in a peaceful fashion and independent from any other party or organisation.

2. The Democratic Party of Vietnam supports the policy of national unity based upon the principle of freedom, democracy and equality.

3. The Democratic Party of Vietnam is not harbouring nor advocating any hostility amongst the Vietnamese people, inside or outside the country.

4. The current issues in Vietnam include corruption, an authoritative manner, moral deterioration, education degrading, inflation, Sino-Vietnamese land & sea border matters, all of which are critical challenges to the society. Therefore, all members of society must be able and eligible to participate and contribute opinions in order to resolve these problems.

5. The public administration system, the courts, and the police & armed forces are of the people and for the people, not belonging to any political party or to serve for any individual, association or organisation.

6. The Democratic Party of Vietnam believes the ruling party is a political counterpart in the mission of protecting the fatherland, democratising society, developing the country, assuring liberties, and the right to seek happiness for everyone.
