Indonesia has reported 15 more bird flu fatalities in 2009, taking the national death toll to 134.

The health ministry says 20 people were infected with bird flu last year and 19 cases were fatal. Four of the deaths had previously been reported.

Indonesia had stopped announcing individual cases last March amid a dispute over the sharing of virus samples.

The ministry said in a statement Wednesday that the most recent fatality was on September 23, but gave no other details.

The latest figures take the total number of bird flu cases in Indonesia to 161 since 2005, with 134 fatalities.

Indonesia is the country hardest hit by the virus.
