Vietnam is compiling standards for websites to protect internet users and online transaction traders, a Ministry of Industry and Trade official said Thursday March 27.
The guidelines will help enhance the prestige of Vietnamese e-commerce merchants around the world, Ministry of e-Commerce and Information Technology Agency (VECITA) deputy director Nguyen Manh Quyen said.

Under the proposed new standards, website operators will have to clarify privacy information on their websites, as well as protection policies for internet users who purchase online, VECITA said.

The new rules will comply with Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation practices.
