Japan-based Sanyo group invests US$40m in Vietnam

Japan-based Sanyo Group's Shenzhen Sanyo Huaqiang Optical Technology Ltd Co today May 9 is to sign an agreement with Saigon-Bac Giang Industrial Zone Joint Stock Co to rent 14.4 hectares of land in Bac Giang province's Quang Chau industrial zone to build a high-tech factory specialising in producing optical cable spare parts.

The project capitalised at US$40 million is expected to start construction in June and finish the first factory and an office building at the end of this year.

After three-years of operation to 2011, the project could attract around 150,000 workers and bring in an export turnover of over US$300 million.
