Vietnam ICT Awards to be launched by video conferencing
28-AUG-2008 Intellasia | Vietnamnet
Aug 28, 2008 - 7:00:00 AM
The Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) has said it will launch the Vietnam ICT Awards 2008 in early September at a press conference in the form of video conferencing.

The press conference will see the participation of delegates and correspondents from both Hanoi and HCM City, who will meet each other on the screen. This will be the first press conference of its kind in Vietnam.

The MoIC's organisation of a video-conferencing press briefing is evidence of the development of information technology in Vietnam and a response to the government's call to practice thrift by organising meetings by applying IT.

"That MoIC has chosen video conferencing to organise its press conference introducing the Vietnam ICT Awards is highly relevant," said Dr Tran Duc Lai, deputy minister of Information and Communications.

Lai said the upcoming video-conference press briefing can be seen as the MoIC's encouragement of IT application in life. Moreover, it will help heighten the Vietnam ICT Awards as the organiser uses technology to promote the event.

On April 27, 2008, the first video-conferencing cabinet meeting was held for participants in the eight provinces and cities of Hanoi, HCM City, Nghe An, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Can Tho.

The Vietnam ICT Awards is the annual awards of the MoIC to encourage, orient and assess the development of information and communication technology of Vietnam in a year.
