Local IT giant FPT Corp yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation with Nokia Corp to further develop Vietnam's market, especially in WiFi and internet segments.
Chris Carr, vice chair of Nokia Corp for the Asia-Pacific region, pinned high hopes on the cooperation with FPT, which became the distributor of Nokia cell-phones four-years ago.
"The cooperation is Nokia's starting point in developing internet services in Vietnam,' Chris Carr told the signing ceremony.
Truong Gia Binh, FPT's general director, believes the strategic cooperation with Nokia will contribute to the development of the digital industry and mobile devices in Vietnam.
Under the agreement, the two parties will boost cooperation in expanding Nokia's mobile network and developing digital solutions for Vietnamese consumers. Besides, they also planned to join hands in community development in the mobile industry and digital communication convergence.
In the short-term, Nokia has pledged to assist education activity of the FPT University and continue to sponsor FPT's annual Mobile Labs contest to encourage Vietnamese young people to invent new mobile applications.
FPT, a corporation on its way of globalisation, desires to maintain constant cooperation with Nokia in exchanging market information and development of the digital industry via conferences and events in the coming time.
