Intel Products Vietnam (IPV) said that the first chip factory with a cost of $1 billion in Vietnam will officially start operation in this July.
In 2007, Intel kicked off work on the factory in Saigon high tech Park, which has a designed production capacity of 600 million of chips a year and a workforce of 4,000 employees.
As expected, the factory will bring in $120 million of export turnover a year. Total capacity of the chip factory will be raised gradually towards revenue of $5-15 billion each period.
In next 3-5 years, the factory plans to reach the maximum capacity of 820 million of products a year.
