Mobile network provider lowers call charges to keep subscribers

Many mobile network providers have launched various large-scale charge reduction programmes from the beginning of the years.
In details, the military-run telecommunication group of Viettel triggered the race of lowering call charges for all type of mobile subscribers.

The charges for internal and external calls would be reduced by 200 dong per minute for all Viettel's post-paid subscribers. Meanwhile, the other subscribers using seven pre-paid packages enjoyed charge reduction programme of 10-20 percent. The charges for internal calls for users of Happysone packages would be decreased to 890 dong per minute. Le Hoang Son, Viettel Telecom's director revealed that the large scale charge reduction programme was for purpose of keeping its mobile subscribers.

After releasing the new promotion programme of "Van su nhu y", VinaPhone has reported to have additional 100,000 subscribers per day. Thanks to the new charge reduction promotion programme, in the first days of the new year, the amount of VinaPhone's subscribers increased by 250 percent year-on-year. In early March, VinaPhone continued launching new promotion programme for pre- and post-paid subscribers. While the pre-paid subscribers will receive additional 50 percent of the value of paid-in cards from March 8-10, the post-paid ones will have free SMS and call charges for internal calls from 4th -10th minute.

MobiFone has launched new promotion on the occasion of March 8 by offering 83 free internal SMS. In addition, for new subscribers who purchase the package kit of 65,000 dong will receive 160,000 dong and 50 percent value of paid-in cards for the first 10 times. For those post-paid subscribers, the customers will receive gifted 1.14 million dong and 360 Voice SMS.

The other small telecommunication firms also introduced to market new attractive packages. For example, S-Fone has launched the new post –paid package of Data eCo that is considered "super economical" for 095 subscribers. The new package is designed for customers who would like to use mobile Internet services frequently. The subscribers pay monthly charge of 30,000 dong for free 30MB capacity for purposes of chatting, surfing webs, checking emails and additional 30 minutes of free calls and 30 internal SMS.

At the same time, Vietnamobile offered promotion programme of free internal SMS daily or when activating the new package of 25,000 dong, the subscribers will receive gifted 80,000 dong in the account.

It's estimated that the mobile charges has lowered by 15-20 percent. However, all the telecommunication firms affirmed that it was the beginning phase of the new charge reduction race. It's predicted that the call charge for telecommunication services would continue dropping in 2010.
