US$10b project in Phu Quoc Island to be licensed

One project worth some US$10 billion invested in Phu Quoc Island will be licensed in the next time, according to Truong Van Doan, vice minister of Planning and Investment.

This is a joint venture between the US and Canada to invest in building transportation infrastructure system in Phu Quoc and its neighbouring areas.

The project if being licensed will be one of the biggest FDI projects so far in Vietnam.

Doan added, the US and Canada-based another project valued at US$3.5-4 billion to develop a service and tourism area in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau could be licensed within this month.
