VDB allocates US$400m for Son La Hydropower project

Vietnam Development Bank (VDB) on October 7 signed a credit contract worth US$400 million with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to import equipments for Son La Hydropower project.
With this contract, VDB became the biggest sponsor for Son La Hydropower project. Earlier, VDB also signed other credit contract worth four trillion dong with EVN for building and buying equipment for this plant.
The Son La Hydropower, Vietnam's biggest hydropower project after starting operations will provide over 10 billion kWh/year to the national grid.
The project has an estimated capacity of 2,400 MW with the total investment capital of 36.933 trillion dong. As planned, the plant will start operations by December 2010 and the whole project will be finished by December 2012.
