Jul 24, 2008 - 7:00:00 AM

Prime minister on July 21 issued a decision ruling that the absolute tariff on rice exports is 2.9 million dong a tonne at the highest while that on fertiliser export is 5,000 dong a kilogram.

The absolute export tariff on fragrant rice is calculated based on export price of tonne fob (excluding insurance).

Vietnam's rice with the export price of US$600-700 will be imposed a tariff of 500,000 dong a tonne, from US$700-800/tonne will have to suffer the tariff of 600,000 dong a tonne. The maximum progressive tariff on rice export is 2.9 million dong/tonne depending on increases in export prices of rice.

As for fertiliser, the absolute export tariff is 4,000 dong a kilogram applied on SA and DAP fertiliser and 5,000 dong a kilogram on urea and kali fertiliser.
