Steel export tariff cut down to 5%

Ministry of Finance on October 6th issued Decision No 84/2008/QD-BTC modifying the export tariff on some items of non-alloyed steel of the export tariff benchmark.
Under the decision, the export tariff on steel and case iron, subject to Sub-Category 7204.50.00.00 and Categories 7206 and 7207, was reduced to 5% in line with Decision 106/2007/QD-BTC dated December 20, 2007.
The new tariff will be applied on customs declaration from October 7, 2008.
The release of Decision No 84 aims to remove the finance ministry's Decision No 81/2008/QD-BTC dated September 22.
Earlier, the export tariff had been increased from 2% to 10% in June and 2% in August, lowered to 10% on September 22 and 5% at the moment.
