Imported cars in 2010 will be applied higher tariff by 2-20 percent basing on the price risk management list of general Department of Customs.

Accordingly, the tariff for both 100 percent imported cars and used cars will be raised to higher levels by from several thousands to tens of thousands of US dollar.

For example, seven-seat Toyota Venza car with capacity of 2.7 litres manufactured by the US will have new price of $21,000-22,000 while the previous price at $20,000 per unit.
Similarly, Toyota Venza car with capacity of 3.5 litres will have minimum price of $23,000-24,000 against the previous price at $22,000. Thus, in comparison with last year, the tariff increased by $1,000-2,000.

Some other types such as Toyota Corolla saw a rise of $1,500 y-o-y and the rise of $1,000 is for high-class cars like Bentley, BMW, Cadilac and Chrysler.

The total volume of imported cars to Vietnam market dropped considerably. In Jan, the total volume of imported cars has 2,400 units left, falling a half against previous month.
