Decision on development of border economic zones
09-MAY-2008 Intellasia | Sao Viet
May 9, 2008 - 7:00:00 AM

The prime minister recently issued a decision approving the project to develop Vietnam’s border economic zones until 2020.

The project will help develop these zones to become key power economic zones of each province in border areas with China, Laos and Cambodia with the target to reach total export-import turnover between Vietnam with neighbouring countries at about US$42-43 billion by 2020.

With this, Vietnam expects to have around 30 border economic zones by 2020 including seven more new border economic zones in border areas.

The decision will take effect after 15 days as being gazetted.
