Hotel room prices in Hanoi most expensive

Among five most tourism destinations that attract tourists most, Hanoi, HCM City, Phan Thiet, Da Lat, Hoi An-Da Nang, Hanoi has the highest price of hotel rooms while price of hotel rooms in Da Lat are cheapest. On average, prices of hotel rooms in Hanoi are US$82.78 higher than that in Da Lat based on the average price level.

This is the results of a hospitability business survey in Vietnam in 2007 conducted by Grant Thornton Vietnam Auditing Co The survey is conducted for 37 hotels with total 5,216 rooms nationwide.

HCM City reports the highest room occupancy of over 79% in the year. In 2006, This rate was nearly 77%. Room occupation rates are also different among hotels of different scales. The rate of tourists residing at large-scaled hotels, which have over 150 rooms, is more than 76%, at medium-scaled hotels with 75-150 rooms nearly 66%, and at small-scaled hotels over 66%.

Prices of hotel rooms in HCM City averages US$100.67 in 2007, a year-on-year increase of 39%. The average price of hotel rooms in Hanoi is US$90.38, rising by 26%. In Hoi An-Da Nang, the average price is US$62.89, a year-on-year growth of 63.7%. The average price of hotel rooms in Phan Thiet is US$83.74. Meanwhile, in Da Lat, prices of hotel rooms remains unchanged, some US$31.

One of the most notable results is that the number of clients hiring hotel rooms for business purposes increase by 5.26% against two previous years. Revenue from businesspeople at five-star hotels account for nearly 40% of total revenue.

Tourists tend to reside in four-star hotels, accounting for nearly 40% of total clients of hotels. Tourists to Vietnam, who choose five-star hotels, at the peak season will have to pay another US$51.53.
