May 14, 2008 - 7:00:00 AM

In an effort to help the victims of the cyclones in Burma (Burma) which resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and after effects of widespread diseases and famine, Google has set up a special Burma Cyclone donation page.

According to the Associated Press, United Nations death toll estimates from last weekend's Cyclone Nargis ranges from 63,000 to 100,000, which is above the Burma government's estimate of about 22,000.

Google is giving users the option to donate to Unicef or DirectRelief International via Google checkout. According to the page on Google, 100% of the funds will go directly to relief efforts.

From Google :

Join recovery efforts mobilising around the world to assist cyclone victims in Burma (Burma). Below, we've selected two among many worthy organisations. Your donation will help survivors and other disaster victims rebuild their communities and their lives. In addition, when you donate on this page, Google donates too. We'll donate up to US$1 million to help organisations provide relief.
