Taiwan's Compal Electronics <2324.TW>, the world's No.2 contract laptop PC maker, expects its personnel costs in China to increase 8-10 percent this year amid labour shortages on the mainland, its chair said on Tuesday.

Compal Chair Hsu Sheng-hsiung also told reporters during an industry event that the extra costs would not have a major impact on the company's revenue this year.

Larger rival Quanta Computer <2382.TW> said last month it will raise salaries of its production workers in China by about 10 percent to overcome a labour shortage as demand picks up for its products.
