The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange today September 25 witnessed a strong surge on the stock market when the VN Index suddenly jumped by 34.06 points or 3.49% to close at 1009.88 (after 11 am) with a total matching order trade of 13,393,060 shares worth nearly 1.258 trillion dong. Similarly, the northern floor or HaSTC Index today continued its strong increase impetus with jumping 9.01 points or 3.2% to close at 290.28 with a total market trade of 3,415,600 shares worth over 319.465 billion dong.
* The State Securities Commission (SSC) recently granted license for the listed firm the Engineering, Machinery Installation and Construction Joint Stock Co (coded VMC) to offer three million shares.
* The State Securities Commission (SSC) recently approved in principle for Song Da 6.04 Joint Stock Co (coded S64-HaSTC) to offer shares.
* The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange approved in principle for Construction Joint Stock Co No 5 to list 8.6 million shares via the southern floor.
* The Saigon Institute for Techniques and Technology (SaigonCTT) has inaugurated a new office at 287B Dien Bien Phu Street in HCM City’s District 3. On the occasion, the institute knocks 50% off the fees for ICT courses for local students.
* HCM City-based soft drink producer Tribeco has completed work on a factory in Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in neighbouring Binh Duong Province and will commission it some time this month. The 300-billion dong facility will be able to turn out 40 million crates a year.
* State-owned Vietnam Steel Corp (VSC) has got approval to scale up steel prices by100,000 dong per tonne to between 9.75 million dong and 10 million dong. This new price is still lower than others as VSC is mandated to stabilise the steel market.
* Hai Phong-based Tia Sang Battery Co has reported January-August revenue of 97 billion dong, up 57% year-on-year, including US$695,000 from export.
* The Ha Long Cement Joint Stock Co is investing over 5.26 trillion dong to construct a cement factory with a total capacity of 2.02 million tonnes a year. The project includes a clinker factory in Quang Ninh Province and another in Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in HCM City.
* Tien Giang Province-based Chau Thanh Hung Co has exported 9,000 tonnes of cajuput shavings to China. The 18-billion dong company has four cajuput wood grinding machines with a total capacity of 320 tonnes a day.
