Stock market sees consecutive fall as VN Index drops 9.8pts

Jul 24, 2008 - 11:02:47 AM The Vietnam's stock market today July 24 continued recording another fall when the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (STC)'s index dropped 9.8 points or 2.19% to end at 435.79 pts with the total matching order trades of nearly 23.6 million shares and fund certificates valued at 811.662 billion dong, a 14 fold increase in volume against two session ago.

Blue-chip shares fell such as DPM and FPT lost 1,500 dong to 53,000 dong and 61,500 dong per share, STB down 700 dong to 23,000 dong and others like VNM, ITA, SSI and PVD.

HPG and VIC stood still at the comparative price.
Among 158 shares and fund certificates being listed on the southern bourse, the stock market saw 12 shares increasing, four stood still, one with no trades and 141 falling.

Gainers were SJS, PET, SGT, TSC, CLC, NHC, RHC, DDM, BMC and TCT.
STB obtained the biggest trading volume with nearly 5.1 million shares, followed by DPM with nearly 4.7 million shares, HPG 1,757,950, VF1 962,110, PET 894,740, SSI 588,200, REE 581,410, DQC 567,490 and others such as VTO, SJS, VSH, VNM, NTL and LAF.

On the northern bourse, the Hanoi Securities Trading Centre (HaSTC) also tumbled as the HaSTC Index plunged 2.14 points or 1.49% to 141.34 pts with the total market trade of 12,920,600 shares and fund certificates worth over 438 billion dong, a much higher level in both trading volume and value than the previous session.

Amongst 145 listed shares on the northern floor, the stock market recorded 20 shares increasing, 12 with no trades, two stood still at the reference price namely MEC and NGC and 111 decreasing.

20 gainers were DBC, DTC, HLY, KBC, PAN, PVS, S64, S99, SCJ, SD6, SDA, SDJ, SDS, SJE, TJC, TV4, VCS, VSP, VTS and YSC.

12 with no transactions were HPS, HSC, KMF, LBE, LUT, NPS, SJC, SNG, SRA, STC, VE9 and VTL.

Four shares reached the trading volume of over one million shares namely ACB with 1,934,600 shares, KLS with 1,371,200, PVI with 1,312, 300 and PVS with 1.153 million shares.
