Stock market records standstill session of VN Index

Vietnam's stock market today November 19 had a favourable beginning when the VN Index regained points. However, due to low transparency of listed shares, the index of Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (STC) continued decreasing for the third consecutive session.

Opening the stock market today, with good news from the US stock market during two recent sessions, many share codes listed on the southern bourse increased and the VN Index also gained 2.24 points or 0.65% to 342.93 pts with the total trading volume of over 1.5 million shares worth 37.6 billion dong. In the following stage, the VN Index reserved to fall by 2.28 pts or 0.66% to 338.41 pts with the total trading volume of over 7.1 million shares valued at 188.3 billion dong. The decreasing impetus was maintained until the end of the session as the VN Index continued slipping 3.8 pts or 1.12% to 336.89 pts with the total matching order trades of over 9.1 million shares and fund certificates capitalised at 236.75 billion dong, down 10% in volume and 5% in value from previous session.

Among 166 share codes and four fund certificates being listed on the southern bourse, the stock market saw 85 shares decreased with 10 falling to the floor price, 54 others increased with seven reaching the ceiling price, 29 stood still and two with no trade namely SFC of Saigon Fuel Joint Stock Co and SGH of Saigon Hotel Joint Stock Co.

Out of top ten largest capitalised shares, VIC added 500 dong to 79,000 dong per share together with others such as TMS of Trasimex Saigon +1,600, TRC of Tay Ninh Rubber firm + 1,200, COM of Comeco +1,100, DHG of Hau Giang Pharmaceutical +1,000 dong. Meanwhile, SJS of Song Da Sudico slipped 3,000 dong, LCG dropped 2,400 and TCT of Nui Ba Tay Ninh Telpher Corp slashed 2,000 dong per share.

STB of Sacombank still kept good transparency with the biggest trading volume of 1.96 million shares, followed by DPM of Phu My fertiliser 430,000, SSI of Saigon Securities Co 400,000, FPT of FPT Group 340,000 and REE with 300,000 shares being transferred.
Similarly, the Hanoi Securities Trading Centre (HaSTC) today November 19 also plunged on the stock market when the HaSTC Index lost 0.48 points or 0.43% to end at 110.9 pts with the total market trade of 6,5430,500 shares, equalling to over 179 billion dong.

Amongst 159 listed shares on the northern bourse, the stock market witnessed 55 shares increased, 19 others stood still namely BCC, BLF, CSG, CTB, CTN, HNM, HPS, L61, MCO, PTC, PVC, QNC, SDJ, TBC, THB, TST, VC5, VMC and XMC, nine with no trade namely CID, CJC, CTC, GHA, HEV, HSC, PVE, SDC and SRA and 76 remaining shares decreased.

CCM was the biggest gainer with 2,700 dong, MIC up 2,100, YSC jumped 1,900 and TBX bounced 1,800 dong per share.

Meanwhile, VSP was the strongest loser with 2,600 dong, DAC slashed 1,900, MIC down 1,800, VTS slipped 1,700 dong and DC4 and SNG tumbled 1,500 dong per share.

ACB stood at the first place in trading volume with 1,418,300 shares, followed by KLS with 719,400, PVS with 540,400, VCG 387,600, TBH 354,300 and PVI with 282,900 shares being changed hands.
