Foreign investors in June 2009 rise considerably

The Vietnam Securities Depository Centre (VSD) has reported that there have been 13,306 foreign investors that have been registered to trade codes up to July 01, in which 1,031 are organisations and 12,005 are individuals.

There were 73 foreign investors that were registered to trade on Vietnam's stock markets in June only, including 36 organisations and 37 individuals.

After two months of reduction, the number of foreign investors receiving trade codes for doing transaction on the stock markets has rebounded. In the first two months of this year, there were 118 foreign investors to be registered at VSD.

As per the details out of this 56 investors in Jan, of which 16 were organisations and the rest were individuals. In the next month, the number were 62, including 14 organisations and 48 individuals.

In the next two months, the number of foreign investors reduced. Only 27 and 21 registered investors in March and April respectively. However, in May the number surged again to 72, in which 40 were organisations and 32 of individuals.

The law stated that the foreign investors who would like to open an account to trade shares on the market must apply for code registration in the securities depository centres.
