Both bourses see contrary movements

Following the increasing tendency from the previous session, opening the first trading session this week (March 15), the demand power continued helping the stock market.

Ending the first phase, the index of Hochiminh Stock Exchange (STC) bounced 6.5 points or 1.22 percent to end at 538.01 pts with the total trading volume of 4.9 million shares worth over 195 billion dong.

In the following stage, the VN Index continued to gain 2.38 points or 0.45 percent to 533.89 pts with the total matching order trade of 45.25 million shares valued at 1.906 trillion dong.

Finally, the VN Index attained 0.35 pts or 0.07 percent to 531.86 pts with the total matching order trade of 54.19 million shares for 2.29 trillion dong, increasing 1 percent in volume and 6 percent in value against the previous session.

According to the statistic, amongst 214 share codes on the southern bourse, the market recorded 114 shares increased, 64 others decreased, and 37 remaining shares stood still at the comparative price.

Out of key stocks, EIB bounced 200 dong to 23,200 dong per share, BVH +700 to 44,500, GMD +2,000 to 86,000, VIC +1,000 to 92,000, VPL +200 to 42,000 whereas others fell such as STB, VCB, SSI, CTG, FPT, HPG, KBC, PVF and PVD.

As for trading volume, STB led the market with over 2.8 million, and then ITA over 2.7 million, EIB over 1.6 million, HLA over 1.5 million, SSI and VTO with over 1.4 million each and CII over 1.2 million shares being traded.

Unlike the southern bourse, the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) today tumbled when the HNX Index slipped 0.13 points or 0.07 percent to close at 173.32 pts with the total market trade of 35.85 million shares valued at 1.209 trillion dong.
