Nippon Light Metal and Sojitz to study aluminum hydroxide plant in Vietnam
Nippon Light Metal and Sojitz Corp have partnered with Vietnam National Chemical (Vinachem) and its 100% subsidiary SBC (South Basic Chemical) in the construction of aluminum hydroxide factories in Vietnam.
The plant construction will be the biggest project in Asia concerning the production of aluminum hydroxide, which is anticipated to reach 550,000 tonnes per year.
The four companies plan to select a final factory construction site by investigating SBC’s bauxite mining site. Construction will begin by 2008.
The partners will invest a total of about 40 billion yen (US$345 million) in the project, raising funds through capital finance from international banks.
